Playing by ear

I have to admit, there was no any system in my work the last few weeks. I just surfed on the net looking for pictures in my style, then made whatever took my fancy. This way it never gets boring. Mostly the food is that catches my attention, but sometimes an old tray, a chipped bowl or a wooden board with quaint shape started my imagination. Of course I'm aware of the impending Christmas time, so in the next months I will make a lot of gingerbread items and other Christmas related miniatures, but these pictures are about my rambling.

Preparing for Halloween

We don't celebrate Halloween here, in Hungary. 1st November is the Day of the Deads, when we commemorate our gone relatives and friends. After sundown we go to the cemetery and place candles onto the graves. It's a beautiful and touching scene with the thousands of candles giving the only light in the dark.
So, no Halloween... But I couldn't miss an opportunity to make funny miniatures in this theme. Here are my latest works with pumpkins and bones and mummies.

When I bake twice

There are some minis I can't make with only one baking. The meats with bones definitely fall into this category. The ribs are made on a wood rod, so they easily get the curved shape. The tiny chicken leg bones are built on a piece of wire, then afetr baking I put the "flesh" onto the bone. This way I don't have to worry about the bones to be pressed during the work.

Harvest time

The gardens are still full of fruits, and the colors and shapes are so wonderful, they always inspire me. Here are some delicious pieces from "my garden".

Croissants

This is a little shabby tray with many fresh croissants. The new experiment in this scene is the jam jar. I turned it from clear acrylic rod. Actually the one you can see is the forth try. Turning acrylic rod is very tricky since it tends to melt on turning with high speed. And you need to sand it properly to save its transparency. So the first three ones were either deformed or too matt to be a glass jar.

Coffee cake

 I think the cake is only an accessory in this little scene. The main "character"  is the coffee grinder, isn't it?
The tray has a cardboard base framed with fimo strip. The old color is some bronze, silver and green paint, shaded with black mostly in the corners.
